Have an audition or role coming up that requires a specific accent? Want to learn one to broaden your resume?

Are you looking to have a less specific, and therefor more marketable sound? Is English a second language? I can help you foster a more Americanized accent.
Part of building your resume is playing with your voice to be able to create a wide variety of characters and sounds. But you have to do it safely, and I can help you develop that technique and that character portfolio.
Drawing on my own training in theatre and vocal work, I can assist you with breathing and projection techniques to give your voice a fuller sound, that you can use in voiceover work or to project on stage.
Pre-Production Training: In-person and Online
*Please note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, In-person training is not available until further notice.
On-set or On-Location Coaching
I would relish the opportunity to be on set, or within the theatre to tutor your actors on the spot. Aside from availability before a production begins, I am available for rehearsals, or as an on-location coach to help shape the performance as it unfolds to better ground the actors.
Proficiency
My private sessions are often on a weekly basis, and I provide video recordings of previous coaching sessions, and written work for review for the actors to study. That prep work is provided in a timely manner, and my techniques can be applied in a very efficient fashion, which is often needed for the quick pace of the entertainment field.
Adaptability
As a teacher of more than a decade, I have worked with a myriad of students of all ages and ability levels. I am a patient individual who is willing to work with anyone, from amateur enthusiast to professional actor. I can also help your production achieve results, regardless of time frame.
I am at your disposal. Please let me know the details of your production, and how I can be of use. Click the link below to find a form where you can inform me of the details, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
One of the most important skills any actor needs is the ability to have the most marketable sound possible. Being a Canadian Dialect coach has taught me that many actors in Canada are asked to audition or perform in the so-called General American accent.
Regardless of your natural accent, whether you're from Canada, or even learned English as your second language, I can help recognize and modify your specific accent 'identifiers' to help create that sought-after GenAm sound.
Received Pronunciation, also known under the misnomer 'Queen's English', doesn't really exist in many places in England. It is that generic, upper-class English sound, great for period pieces and voice acting. I stress the importance of oral posture and the vowel sounds that make this accent as authentic as possible.
One of my absolute favourite accents, and full of small differences when it comes to the specific counties. As we know, there have been many who have tried this accent, and many who have failed. Stressors (depending on geographical district) are highly dependent on prosody or cadence, and with my guidance, we can improve your Irish lilt.
It's always important as an actor not to deal in stereotypes, and this is often where this accent can land. Popular characters like "Fat Bastard" or "Grounds Keeper Willie" are larger than life representations, but I can help you be comfortable with the more subtle touches when it comes to the Scottish accent.
Want to know more about the separation between Northern and Southern England and their accents? From Scouse to Cockney, or that great coastal sound of the West Country, I have an affinity for the various regions of England, and can share the subtle differences with you.
Part of my training has always been to hone in on specific American regions, as it is one of the most fascinating countries in the world in terms of history and the variety of sounds. From the various accents of the South, to the harsher sounds of the East coast, these accents can be a lot of fun to learn. I have specifically performed Louisiana and New York on more than one occasion, but there are a lot of great resources that I have at my disposal to help you learn.
One of the great things about being a Canadian Dialect coach, is knowing so much more about the amazing and diverse culture that makes our country beautiful, and Canada's accents are just as rich in history and flavour as the myriad of American accents. I have specific experience performing a Newfoundland accent, but I can also help with creating other regional sounds such as Quebec-Francophone or the specific cadence of some regions of the West Coast.
I have always had an excellent ear for accents, and am confident in my abilities to learn the minutia of any specific sound. If there is a specific accent you're interested in, please contact me and inform me of the details. I know I can get you to where you want to be with your technique and performance.
